The Artemis 20s compete in the RYA Sailability Multi Class Regatta at Rutland Sailing Club

Last weekend competitors from Scotland, Ireland and across the UK battled it out in the third annual RYA Sailability Multi Class Regatta held at Rutland Sailing Club. This year’s event welcomed seventy two boats and 94 disabled and able-bodied sailors competing across eight different classes, highlighting the popularity of this now well established sailing event. The Even Keel Project – Galway Volvo Ocean Race Stop-over, 2009

On 23rd May 2009, a fleet of six Artemis 20 boats arrived in the heart of Galway Quay for the Volvo Ocean Race stop-over.  Approximately a quarter of a million visitors descended upon the Irish west coast port during this prestigious two-week event, and the Even Keel team’s visit proved to be a resounding success. Hilary makes history in her Artemis 20

Hilary Lister broke a new sailing record on Monday 15th June when she became the first quadriplegic to sail single-handed across the notoriously formidable Irish Sea in her specially-adapted boat, the Artemis 20.

Succesful visit to Boston.

The Even Keel team visited Piers Park Sailing centre in Boston earlier this week to initiate the first of the EK sites, it was apparent that all involved at PPSC and their supporters are backing the project, so much so a certificate of resolution was presented to the team in recognition of the work being done from the city council.
We are all very excited about bringing the project to Boston to work with disadvantaged and disabled adults and children and with the arrival of the Volvo Ocean race will bring exciting times ahead. For more information please visit www.theevenkeel.com

A day Sail training on board Artemis Ocean Racing
The Artemis 20 team at Vizual Marine were treated to a day’s sail training on board AOR1 with elements of the RYA Volvo keelboat squad onboard.

Artemis 20 at IFDS Worlds Rochester NY

The City of Rochester played host to this years IFDS world sailing championships with a strong contingent of Paralympic sailors and hopefuls coming from all over the globe to attend what turned out to be some hard racing over the week. Read More

 

IFDS Worlds, Rochester, New York,

One Artemis 20 is currently in a container, mid-Atlantic, heading to Rochester, New York for the IFDS World Championships.

This will raise awareness on the international sailing circuit of the Artemis 20 with its continuing quest to gain paralympic status in the future.

 

Cowes Week 4-10th August 2007

 

Skandia Cowes week saw two Artemis 20’s being sailed out of the UKSA under the Try A Boat feature of Cowes Week. Under the control of the UKSA instructors, there was much interest in the boats, and the reports were coming back that many boats would detour off their course to get a closer look and enquire about the boat. RECORD BREAKING WOMAN IS FIRST FEMALE QUADRIPLEGIC TO SAIL SOLO ROUND THE ISLE OF WIGHT


 

Hilary Lister, 35, the first quadriplegic to sail solo across the English Channel exactly two years ago, today became the first female quadriplegic to sail solo around the Isle of Wight. Lister, who is able to move only her head and neck, used a ‘sip-puff’ method of steering to control her boat, by breathing down two straws enabling her to steer and adjust the sails. Read More
