A day Sail training on board Artemis Ocean Racing
The Artemis 20 team at Vizual Marine were treated to a day’s sail training on board AOR1 with elements of the RYA Volvo keelboat squad onboard.

Artemis 20 at IFDS Worlds Rochester NY

The City of Rochester played host to this years IFDS world sailing championships with a strong contingent of Paralympic sailors and hopefuls coming from all over the globe to attend what turned out to be some hard racing over the week. Read More

 

IFDS Worlds, Rochester, New York,

One Artemis 20 is currently in a container, mid-Atlantic, heading to Rochester, New York for the IFDS World Championships.

This will raise awareness on the international sailing circuit of the Artemis 20 with its continuing quest to gain paralympic status in the future.

 

Cowes Week 4-10th August 2007

 

Skandia Cowes week saw two Artemis 20’s being sailed out of the UKSA under the Try A Boat feature of Cowes Week. Under the control of the UKSA instructors, there was much interest in the boats, and the reports were coming back that many boats would detour off their course to get a closer look and enquire about the boat. RECORD BREAKING WOMAN IS FIRST FEMALE QUADRIPLEGIC TO SAIL SOLO ROUND THE ISLE OF WIGHT


 

Hilary Lister, 35, the first quadriplegic to sail solo across the English Channel exactly two years ago, today became the first female quadriplegic to sail solo around the Isle of Wight. Lister, who is able to move only her head and neck, used a ‘sip-puff’ method of steering to control her boat, by breathing down two straws enabling her to steer and adjust the sails. Read More

Round the Island Race.
 
Vizual Marine entered two Artemis20’s in the annual JP Morgan Asset management Round the Island Race with impressive results.
 
Boat 001 helmed by John Quigley and crewed by Andy Hindley finished in 17th place and on corrected time in 08:05:05 followed behind By John Clarke and Dave Rutter 24th Place corrected time 08:16:15 on boat 003 out of 40 starters in the Sportsboat fleet.
 
With good winds off St Catherines Point the gps recorded speeds of 17 Knots while the boat was surfing with the asymmetric up. At all times both boats behaved extremely well in the conditions and to finish ahead of J80’s, 1720’s and even a RS K6 is a fantastic result for what was one of the smallest entries in this years race.

It has been confirmed by Skandia that two Artemis 20’s will be sponsored as the ‘Try a Boat’ feature at this years Skandia Cowes week. This will offer the opportunity to the public to come and have a test sail on the new concept 6m carbon fibre keel boat. Vizual Marine will also have two other Artemis 20’s taking part in Skandia Cowes week, they look forward to seeing you there!!

Vizual Marine have confirmed that they will have three Artemis 20’s taking part in the J P Morgan Round The Island Race. This follows gaining their sports boat rating of 0.825 . Vizual Marine are delighted to be taking part and it looks set to be an action packed race.

The Artemis 20 has moved to a new builder where the stylish performance keel boat will go into production. The builders are Southampton based CML , both companies look forward to a long and prosperous partnership.

28th November 2006 ARTEMIS 20 WINS 1ST RACE AT PORT EDGAR SCOTTISH SERIES

This weekend saw the contemporary Artemis 20 secure its first victory at the Port Edgar Scottish Series. The stylish 20ft keelboat flourished in the light conditions, utilising every ounce of the very light breeze to maintain a consistent position across the fast and slow fleets. Read More

Sunday 8th October              RYA Regatta Greenwich Yacht Club. A Good Start.... Charlie Baxter & David Morse collecting prizesOur first regatta for the Artemis 20 took place on Sunday 8th October, the Thames became a hive of activity as the Artemis 20’s competed with 70 other dinghies in London's first regatta. Taking advantage of the annual test closure of the Thames Barrier, sailors of all levels, able-bodied and disabled, raced between Greenwich Yacht Club and the Cutty Sark Pier. David Rutter , Vizual Marine’s Managing Director was delighted with the boat’s performance and with the disabled sailors David Morse and John Row who took part “With great winds almost all day Sunday, the Artemis 20’s came in Second and Fourth on the first race and joint third on the second, against able bodied boats and sailors which supports the concept and philosophy behind the Artemis 20. We are very happy! I am already looking forward to our next event”
