Hilary at the start of her Round Britain Dream in Dover

Hilary makes history in her Artemis 20

Hilary Lister broke a new sailing record on Monday 15th June when she became the first quadriplegic to sail single-handed across the notoriously formidable Irish Sea in her specially-adapted boat, the Artemis 20.

Hilary aims to become the 1st disabled woman to sail solo around Great Britain, and has become an inspiration to people of all ages and abilities through her incredible determination and courage.  Her boat, affectionately named by Hilary ÒMe TooÓ, has been fitted with a Ôsip and puffÕ system that allows complete control on the water.  The Artemis 20s can be modified for almost any type of disability. HilaryÕs amazing achievement is a sound testimony to the quality, design and resilience of the boat.

In a series of day sails that began in Plymouth on the 21st May, Hilary sailed clockwise along the coasts of Cornwall and Wales, and will now embark on her journey along the east coast of Ireland, Scotland, the Caledonian Canal, the east coast of England and finally home to the finish line in Dover.

We would like to wish Hilary all the very best and a safe passage for the rest of her journey.
