Improved Artemis 20Õs near completion

Six brand new Artemis 20 keel boats are now nearing completion in time for the potential launch of ÔThe Even Keel ProjectÕ in Boston during the Volvo Ocean Race stop over. The boats will include the recently tried and tested retro fit keel lift and rudder cassette systems which allow the Artemis 20 to now be launched and recovered from much shallower waters. Nick Sherriff, project leader for the build commented: ÒThe two new additions are a direct result of feedback we have received and were relatively simple to introduce. Now anyone using this beautiful boat can launch and recover it just that little bit more easily.Ó

The Even Keel Project is planning to open an initial ten sites around the world designed at providing free sailing opportunities for disabled and disadvantaged. By using the Artemis 20, which can be easily adapted to suit a number of disabilities, the project is hoping to provide a level playing field by which disabled and able sailors can compete together. Once established the project aims to hold an annual World championships whereby all the sites will converge at one of the locations with a collection of their best sailors in order to see who is the most talented.
